Diverse Practice

November 11, 2020

Before I discovered the joy and benefits of the various practices that I currently do. Parkour, Dance, Calisthenics, Gymnastics, wood carving, Weight lifting (to name a few that are easy to label) I was Only training Brazilian jujitsu for over 10 years and if somebody asked me ‘what do you do?’ It would’ve been very clear as I identified very strongly with being a ‘BJJ guy’. I loved it and still do. I put a lot of time and thought into it, my world was mostly about BJJ. I read books about it, watched tutorials and documentaries about it and would plan my travels around it, most of my friends were from BJJ. When I wasn’t training it, I was thinking about it.
The coolest thing was I never had to motivate myself to do any of this. I loved it.
As I said, in the last year‘s I have discovered many other things that I also love.
It has given me a real sense of freedom as I don’t need mats and a partner necessarily. I can enjoy my practice in the forest, at the beach, in cities, by myself and with others, with kids and grandparents.
I think many that follow me here are also doing similar things, but If you follow me and are obsessed as I was with a single practice, I would just encourage you to stay open to trying new things too. You may also find you enjoy many other things just as much and It could open up a lot of possibilities in your life.
